Six Ways to Create a Mindful Morning Centered on Self Care

We’ve all been there. We hit the snooze button more times than we’d like to admit, hurry to get ready, fight our way through morning traffic, and eat a granola bar at our desk. In many of our busy lives, it is rare that we stop to take a minute and create a morning routine that nourishes our mind and body.

Perhaps you already have a perfect morning routine nailed down, but could use some new ideas. Or maybe the paragraph above sounds all too familiar and you’re looking for a more balanced and nourishing way to start your days. Creating new routines is never easy. Especially in the morning because the sheets are so cozy — and hey, checking emails from bed is just convenient!

No matter what your routine looks like today, here are six solutions that will help you to create a morning routine that will soon become your most favorite self-care ritual.

1. Give yourself plenty of time to rise.

Your alarm goes off. Instead of hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep,  maybe hit it once (baby steps!) but lay with your eyes open. Take a big, deep breath, stretch your arms above your head, and give yourself a smile. Lying in bed also gives you a chance to meditate or reflect on your day ahead. 2. Write down three things you’re grateful for and three things you’re excited about for that day.
