The best ways to do good while you shop — 3 Minute Read —

There is a new type of business in today’s economy known as a “for benefit” company.

Essentially, this is a for-profit company that gives back to the world in one-way or another. Also called “fourth sector” companies, they usually have a social or environmental cause as part of their mission and use a percentage of their profits as a donation to a charity or make a direct donation of their products. These companies represent the best ways to do good while you shop.

Do Good Company

Tom’s is one of the best-known companies to do good while you shop. Tom’s donates a pair of shoes or eyeglasses to a needy kid for every pair of shoes or eyeglasses sold. They coined the “one-for-one” concept. Many consider Tom’s a model for other companies desiring to do-good.  There is a whole new crop of young companies seeking to combine social responsibility with making a profit.

Do Good Company

Our company, Life Equals, is built on this same premise and a great way to do good while you shop.

Did you know that worldwide, 1 in 3 children die due to malnutrition? This lack of nutrients is a greater cause of childhood death than AIDS, malaria, and parasitic infections combined. For every product you purchase from us, Life Equals will donate children’s multivitamins to malnourished children globally. We do this through our partnership with Vitamin Angels, a not-for-profit company that helps greatest at-risk populations in need (specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five) gain access to lifesaving and life changing vitamins and minerals.

Additional companies offer the best ways to do good while you shop.
